Day 5 – Terra Nostra

Today we visited Terra Nostra. It is an amazing botanical garden and mineral hot springs. TN develops their own cultivars of Camellias and they are in bloom. So many gorgeous flowers!

Look how they keep the bamboo from spreading!!

After walking the gardens, we floated in the warm/hot water for a couple of hours. The muddy look is from the high iron content. It was so relaxing.

On the way back we stopped at a restaurant along the coast called Bar Caloura. We again let our server decide our meal and she brought us the 2 catches of the day: Swordfish and Mackerel. It was delicious! Mark dared me to eat the eyeball and I gave it go. What I didn’t realize was the center of the eye was as hard as a rock. It got spit out on my plate.

    1. Kelly, it was like a really hard mochi ball. I couldn’t bite through it but it got stuck on my teeth. I can’t imagine why anyone would choose to eat them.
