Today we visited the Santo Antonio Pineapple Plantation and what a great education that was!

Did you know that a pineapple plant produces only one pineapple? And that it takes 2-2.5 years to grow that fruit to harvest? The plant must be dug up and transplanted 3 times during its life.

So much work goes into growing the fruit. I will appreciate them all the more from now on.

Next we visited the botanical garden here in the city. It was really all about trees from around the world.

There were so many huge trees I had never seen or heard of but our favorites were the Banyan Trees from Australia with their crazy root systems.

We stopped off at our favorite little diner at lunch for fish and chips one last time and told our new friends good bye.

While Mark worked, I walked down to the marina to see some of the ships in port. There was a mega yacht, a large research vessel and a few other fun ones to see.
